English 18th century box in the Chinese Chippendale style
A very fine silver gilt and tortoiseshell patch or pill box. The circular box is completely decorated on every surface. To the lid a scene of buildings around a lake with trees, arches and ducks. The outer circumference decorated with stylized cloud motif. The base decorated by a building within trees and the sides similarly decorated. The silver gilt band attaching the base to the lid is substantial and covers the upper edge of the lid completely.
