Ivory wine jug in the Classical taste
A beautifully carved small ivory wine jug in the classical style. Carved in relief with figures of Bacchantes dancing and playing musical instruments, all below a mask of Bacchus amid vine leaves and fruit. The handle finely carved as a chimera consisting of a dragon's head and tail with a female torso.
Late 18th Century.
