A pair of poly-chrome carved ivory plaques

Depicting historical scenes from the English Civil War. One showing King Charles I dissolving Parliament while the other mirroring the event with Oliver Cromwell as Lord Protector dissolving a later Parliament. The pair of plaques carved in Dieppe in the latter half of the 19th Century and showing signs of the original poly-chrome colouring. These carving are of the highest quality, as would be expected from Dieppe at this time. Mounted in the original wooden frames.
