Silver, Shagreen And Shibyama Clock By William Thornhill, London
A most unusual and very early carriage clock covered in un-polished shagreen and decorated in a shibyama style with birds, leaves, flowers and insects.
The silver is hallmarked WT for William Thornhill and dated for London 1879.
8 day movement with lever escapement. 8.75 cm high ( handle up) by 5 cm wide and 3.75 cm deep
