An ivory sculpted group of extraordinary quality being a copy the famous sculpture by Giambologna in the Loggia dei Lanzi,Florence.
The ivory plinth depicting two exquisitely carved scenes from Plutarch one depicting the abduction of the Sabine women by the Romans the other their acceptance of Romulus's offer for them to marry the Romans.
Italian 18th century.
