Silver-gilt mounted ivory wine flagon
A large and superb silver-gilt mounted ivory wine flagon in the 17th Century taste.
The ornately carved ivory body depicting a Bacchanalian scene, with Satyrs and Bacchantes disporting themselves in a woodland glade. The ivory handle carved a a caryatid.
The silver gilt hinged lid with an ivory finial carved as a lover carrying away a maiden.
German second half of the 19th Century.
Height 44 cm, diameter at base 20 cm.
